As we move into 2022, the car industry is still struggling to cope with production delays due to semi conductor and parts shortages, as well as an increase in new car demand, while most manufacturers have no new car stock at all in the UK. It’s all a bit of a ‘perfect storm’.
The net result is most manufacturers are cutting discounts to maximise the profitability of the few cars they actually have to sell, while some have actually cut discounts altogether. It is a very ‘fluid’ situation, and new car build and delivery times may still get worse before they get better.
As a customer, long term planning is therefore the key when it comes to buying your next new car. Work out what you want now, and get your order in. It may be a lot longer wait than normal, but we really don’t think the current situation will change until the end of Q3 at the very earliest, when some normality might return.
